Zen

She hid a lot of herself from the world through
baggy clothes and thick-rimmed glasses.

You will never see her walk without a paperback
of George Orwell in her hands, covering three-
fourths of her face even when she crosses the
street
—someone asked how she saw where she was
            walking "pure talent" she said.

She used her sense of humour as a crutch,
especially when he's around. She lets him ask
her questions
        — but not about her. Never about her—
until her alarm rings and she realises she has
forgotten to sleep.
