Do you?
Do you remember her?
Do you remember the crimson that stained her cheeks the first time
you sang your praises? She clasped her hands tightly, tamed her wit,
bit her tongue and tasted blood to give your humor a chance. She batted her eyelashes to encourage your ego-burning hers in the process, leaving nothing but ashes and soot.
Do you remember her?
Do you remember how she put you on a pedestal she built with her bones? She dragged you to safe shores and breathed air to your lungs, and she smiled as she did despite the shocks of pain that radiated from the hole that her broken rib has pierced.
Do you remember her?
Do you remember how she dressed your wounds and kissed your scars as you battled with your demons? She lulled you to sleep with her mother's songs, caressed your spirit with her purity, armed your will with her confidence, and fed your body with her passion. She maintained the virtue of a saint as she watched you leave, fighting the urge to drop to her knees as darkness plagued her head.
Do you remember her?
Have you forgotten her?
Have you forgotten me?
